So, I finally scheduled to take my NCLEX-RN exam. I scheduled it for Friday, the 24th. I didn't want a whole lot of people to know about it, so I didn't make an official Facebook announcement or anything. I would of been deadly embarrassed had I failed and everyone on FB was asking me how I did! HAHA. So I only informed a few certain people, mostly ones that actually asked me.
The test was out in Newport News at 8am, which for anyone who knows Hampton Roads, is not easy/fast to get to in rush hour traffic - going through the tunnel and all. So we decided to go out on Thursday night and get a hotel room. Haylee was very excited to get to go swimming in the pool! We got there around 2pm and were able to check in. Then we headed to Cracker Barrel (thanks Felicia & Nick!) for a late lunch/early dinner and then drove by the testing center so I knew exactly where to go in the morning. After that we came back and HAD to go swimming or Haylee was going to go crazy! The entire time while at Cracker Barrel and driving around she kept asking "Are you sure we are going to go swimming? Do you promise?" She was very concerned!
(blah, bad lighting)
hanging out in the hot tub!
HAHA
Muscle girl!
After swimming and relaxing a little we walked around the mall for a while then went to sleep.
Friday morning I woke up at 6am and ate a good breakfast and some coffee. I was SO nervous, with a great deal of anxiety. I started my test around 8am and finished, after 75 questions, around 10am. I could NOT believe it stopped at 75 and felt like I wanted to cry as soon as the screen turned blue! I left feeling good about it but soon after I started to doubt myself and feared I had failed (everyone thinks they failed!). I had to wait ALL weekend to find out & it drove me crazy (normally during the week you can find out the very next morning).
Well, Monday morning I called the automated line at about 8:30am and heard the most AWESOME message on the other line of the phone... Nicole Salisbury has an ACTIVE REGISTERED NURSE license!!! Meaning, of course, that I passed my NCLEX exam and am officially a Registered Nurse!
I am beyond ecstatic and cannot believe I am a Registered Nurse finally! This has been a VERY long and hard journey and I am so happy it's finally over (well until I have to get my BSN haha). Thank you to everyone who supported me and believed in me, I couldn't have done it without you all!
You may now call me Nicole Salisbury, RN =D
