Tuesday was a VERY busy day in our household! First we started out the day by celebrating Valentine's day, Daddy, Mommy & Haylee all exchanged our gifts (mostly candy!) & cards then went to lunch at Kelly's Tavern. After lunch Haylee had her first dentist appointment at the same place my niece, Kylie, went to. They did really good with Kylie and my sister really liked them so I thought it would be a good place to go.
Haylee did AWESOME! I was a little worried she would not let them touch her at all or open her mouth but she did. She wanted me to sit in the chair with her but after I did she let them do anything. She picked out cherry as her flavor for tooth paste and wore the glasses they gave her to wear. They were a little big so I had to hold them on for her ;-)
big girl ready to get her teeth cleaned!
cool glasses!
say "ahhh" [and she did, every time they asked her to open her mouth =)]
she closed her mouth down on the sucker thing too, I thought she'd be scared of that...
see her holding my hand? <3
showing Daddy her pearly whites! SO proud of her!
After the hygienist cleaned her teeth the dentist came in to look at her. The main reason we took her to the dentist at such a young age was because she has these two brown & white spots on her two front top teeth. At her 2 year old well baby appt. I mentioned them to her pediatrician and she told me to take her to the dentist, so we did. Fortunately, the spots are not decay or cavities or anything (which I didn't know how it could be, she's never been put to bed with a bottle, doesn't get much candy, doesn't get sodas or juices (other then V8 Fusion Light, watered down) and brushes her teeth often). The dentist said it was caused from
hypocalcification during development in utero. He said there was a small window when, for some reason, they didn't develop correctly and so when they came through the gums they looked like that. He did say that they can more easily get decay so we need to watch them closely and brush them often (which I've already been making sure we do on those spots). Her adult teeth should come through just fine, and look perfect. So that's great news! He said the rest of her teeth look great and she doesn't have a cross-bite or anything!
We were SO proud of her for doing so well. They were also surprised she did so well because she is so young. She got a goodie bag with a toothbrush (pink, she picked it out), toothpaste, floss, magnet, toothbrush cover (a red shark that she picked out), and a few other little things. She also got to pick something out of the treasure chest since she did SO good. She of course wanted one of everything in there, so it was hard explaining to her that she could only pick one thing. She ended up picking a blue and pink bouncy ball. I think she actually enjoyed the dentist and we plan on making it a regular thing!
After the dentist appointment Dave took Haylee home for a nap and I went to the hospital to watch my nephew be born!!
