So I'm sure I scared some you all with my FB status last night (thank you SO much for all the prayers) and I just wanted to update everyone on what had happened with Haylee.
Last night I was giving Haylee a bath and noticed a HUGE lump on her neck, underneath her right ear. So, I freaked out. I called Dave and he decided to leave work and come home and see what it was. A few days ago Haylee had said she hurt her neck and we didn't know if it was related to that, or if it was her lymph node or something worse. So we called the on call nurse at her pediatrician's office and she suggested we just waited until the next day to go into her their office. But, being paranoid & over protective as we are, we decided to just take her to the ER, better to be safe than sorry. Besides, this wasn't just a small bump, it was huge, the size of a golf ball. And pretty hard. Plus she would flinch when we pressed on it (otherwise it didn't bother her at all though - no breathing or swallowing problems).
So off to the new Princess Anne hospital we went. Haylee seemed excited HAHA, she's really not scared of the doctor's or anything and was welcoming to them checking her out. We got called back pretty quickly and seen by the doctor even quicker. The doctor poked a little at Haylee and asked her a few questions. He asked her the typical ones, age, etc. then asked her if she had a boyfriend and she said she has a cousin HAHA. Then later he asked if she had any siblings and she said she has cousins HAHA and she told him their names. She must sure love her cousins!! After checking her out he said it was a swollen lymph node. She also has a small impetigo rash behind her ear that the doctor said could of caused the inflammation (which we suspected). He did say he was a slightly concerned because the rash is VERY small to have caused such a large swollen lymph node. So we are to keep an eye on it to make sure the heavy duty antibiotics he put her on makes it go away. He mentioned it could be something worse (the "C" word) but we don't think that is the problem and are praying it goes down soon!
We waited for over an hour to get her 1st dose of the antibiotic and then the nurse gave her a popsicle for being so good. The doctor wanted us to follow up with her pediatrician today but she didn't have anything available so we have an appointment tomorrow at 11am. I'll keep everyone updated!
I took a few pictures of it to give everyone an idea... just to warn you it is pretty bad in my opinion!
Just to show you a comparison of the left side that isn't inflamed and the right side that is =/
