Why I have the sweetest little girl...

Today I have been feeling kind of down. Maybe because we left IL and now being back home with no one around & reality is setting in. Also, my plans for New Years got canceled and it looks like we'll just be staying home doing nothing. So I've just been down & in one of those moods.

I decided to take Haylee to the mall tonight to eat dinner and walk around to get out of the house. I woke her up from her nap and was getting ready to go. I was getting frustrated about something and started to cry a little. She came right over to me and was so concerned. She sat down on my lap (I was sitting on the floor) and gave me a huge hug and kept saying "Mommy, why you crying? It's ok Mommy" and kept hugging me and rubbing my back. Then, she took her sweet little hand and wiped away my tears! As soon as she did that my tears dried up. It was such a sweet little gesture I never realized she knew to do that. I know I should only be wiping her tears away, not the other way around, but I needed that at that moment. Her love for me warms my heart so much and that little girl sure has my heart. She has SO much love in her sweet little 2 year old heart it's so amazing. Words can't express my love for her. I am so blessed.

 silly girl
yes, she climbed up on the table &
then continued to pose for the camera =)
stinker knows I can't be mad at that face!
Another super cute thing she does... she says "Oh my gosh" all the time. It's so cute to hear her say it. She'll look at a picture and say "Oh my gosh, it's so cute!" Or she'll look at something else and just say it. I just love her sweet little voice.

SO CUTE!

I was looking through my old videos and came upon this one... tell me she isn't SO stinkin' cute!!!

Christmas from Mommy & Daddy

Since we are leaving for IL tomorrow morning we decided to have Haylee open her presents from us last night so we don't have to bring them to IL. Unfortunately I packed my nice camera and our nice video camera in my suitcase that I gave to Kimberly to bring to IL for me so we were only able to take a video of Haylee opening her gifts with my little point-and-shoot camera. We weren't able to take pictures and the camera card was full after this video =(

National Technical Honor Society Induction

Yesterday I was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. To get into it you just have to have and maintain a 3.25 GPA. Right now my GPA is well above that so I'm hoping I can keep it up high so I can stay in it! In the NTHS you are able to apply to a lot of scholarships that only members can apply to so I'm really excited for that!

My Mom and Dad surprised me by coming (I had NO clue they were coming)! Dave wanted to be there SO bad and it was all that he talked about, being so proud of me, but unfortunately he got tied up at work and by the time he got there we were almost done. I felt bad for him. My Mom was kind enough to take pictures =)

Early Christmas Present

Dave has been wanting to open his gifts from Haylee and I and today he mentioned it again. I decided we could let him and he also surprised me with a present from Haylee. It was a really pretty snow globe he got personalized. We got Dave some cologne, a money clip/card holder, ND beanie and ND luggage clip. He also has an additional gift from Haylee that he can open on actual Christmas day =)

Here is my snow globe

Since we opened our gifts we decided to let Haylee open one of her gifts from us. She didn't even ask to or try to, she was so happy helping us open ours. She's so sweet. When she opened her gift she squealed so loud it was the cutest thing ever!! Unfortunately we didn't think to record it and I couldn't really get her face in the photos because she covered it with the box...

2 year well baby appointment

***WARNING: This is a very long post!***

Haylee FINALLY had her 2 year well baby doctor appointment. It was only a month and few days late! LOL. I had to reschedule that appointment so many times (due to school and the fact that we don't get our schedules until the last minute) and then last Friday she was supposed to have it and her doctor called in sick so they rescheduled it to this Friday. Luckily I only have school Monday - Thursday and not every day or we would have been in trouble!

I had a few questions to ask the doctor and over all the appointment went really well. Oh, this was also my VERY first appointment of taking her by myself, usually Dave goes too (and I make him hold her down for shots) so I was a little nervous. The doctor answered all of my questions first and then checked her out and said she looks really great and healthy!

Her stats:
Weight - 24 lbs. - almost 25th percentile
Height - 32 inches - 5 to 10 percentile

One of my questions had to do with Haylee's skin issues. A while ago the doctor said she had eczema but I wasn't convinced because it didn't look as bad as I've seen on other kids, and it didn't bother her at all. But lately she's been getting these really red patches behind her knees and as soon as the doctor saw that she said it definitely is eczema. So she told me to get this hydrocortizone cream again and also get a heavy lotion & apply it twice a day. I got some Cortizone 10 lotion for eczema, it is the ointment and lotion in one, so I'm hoping that helps! At the end she got two shots, her first Hep A and her last Pc. She did SO good getting them! I was worried for nothing. She didn't flinch at all after the 1st one and then started whining after the 2nd one but I showed her the Princess band aid she got right away and she totally stopped whining. She never shed one tear and I was so proud of her! She was just so happy about her new pretty band aid! LOL

The doctor mentioned how long Haylee's hair has gotten and how pretty it is =) She also asked how she is talking and said "is she putting 2 word sentences together" and I mentioned how she puts several words together. I've always been pretty pleased and impressed with the way she talks. Haylee also eats REALLY well. She will always at least try something for us if we ask her to. And she likes broccoli most for her veggies. She also eats a lot of other foods. I've definitely never had much problem with the way she eats. She knows her ABC's pretty good (a few in the middle kind of run together) but I'm surprised she knows them so well. She sings an ABC song that is on a CD and lately she's been trying to sing along to other songs that is on the same CD. It's so cute to hear her. She is the sweetest and most well mannered little girl I know. She ALWAYS says "thank you" and "your welcome". She sometimes says "please" (working on that one) and she'll say "excuse me" or "bless you". She has pooped on the potty twice now and peed once. I'm not starting to potty train yet, we decided to wait until after the holidays to start. She loves to dance and watch movies. Her new favorite movie is The Little Mermaid. She still sleeps in her crib and through the night (although sometimes we hear her awake and laughing in the middle of the night!). I do not plan on taking her out of her crib for a LONG time! LOL. She is in mostly 24 month clothes, and in some 18 month still. She is going to be very tiny as you can tell by her stats. She's wearing a size 5, 5.5 shoe. She loves to play with all her baby dolls she got for her birthday and pushes them around in the stroller (with her purses and bags hanging on the handles!). She also loves to play with her kitchen dishes and food and will bring us something to eat. She's getting into dressing up too, and likes to wear her her new clothes and shoes. She has been getting a little bit of an attitude and independence. We are expecting this to happen but she does listen pretty well when reprimanded and often does as we ask.

We are so blessed and lucky to have Haylee in our lives. She is such a sweet little girl who loves to give hugs and kisses and loves her family. She's so wonderful and a blessing =)

Lights!

The other night we were out picking Princess up from the groomers and Dave mentioned looking at this house that has tons of lights on it in Norfolk. We decided to go and check it out! It was really awesome and Haylee loved it. They do this every year and collect donations for CHKD. You tune into a radio station and the lights play to the music. Pretty cool! It's a lot like a house we've seen in IL when we visit there for Christmas.

Rudolph

I found this art project on a blog that I follow. It looked really cute and fun to make so I wanted to do it with Haylee. Since I have school Monday - Thursday I really didn't have the time to do it so my sister (& babysitter) Kimberly did it with the girls. And Marty lucked out that the day Kimberly watched her was the day they were doing the project!

waiting to paint! so excited!

New Stocking!

I have been wanting to find the perfect stocking for Haylee. I haven't been able to find one I really liked, for a decent price. So since she's been born she's had this plain ol' red one, nothing special. This year I happened to see some cross-stitch ones on this website and found one I really liked. My mom does cross-stitching so I asked her if she'd make it and she said yes. I LOVE it! It turned out to be so cute and just perfect for her! Haylee also really liked it when I showed it to her and then she hung it up =)

Santa!

We finally made it to see Santa... and it went... well... as expected! Haylee did NOT want to have anything to do with him. We tried to hype him up as much as we could (showed that video from him over and over again & talked about him non stop) but it didn't work apparently.  After waiting in line for at least 30 minutes, this is how it went!

Future nurse

Haylee is always interested in what I do and always wants to do it too. Well I often have my Nurse book out and she always wants to read it, or a different one I have if I am reading the big one.

Here I was trying to get her to read me HER book but she didn't want to (sorry it's dark, of course)...

Christmas Lights at Botanical Gardens... well maybe

The night before Thanksgiving Dave and I decided to take Haylee to see the lights at Botanical Gardens. We went last year and she enjoyed it, and this year she has liked seeing lights on houses so we thought she would really like it this year. We drove all the way to Norfolk (close to the airport) and to Botanical Gardens only to find out they were closed!! They didn't open until Thanksgiving night!! We were bummed and Haylee was disappointed so we decided to go to see the beach's lights. They also do lights at the holiday time and I have never been to it so I was pretty excited to see what it was like. So from Norfolk we then drove all the way to the oceanfront! haha! It was worth it though and we even got a free CD to listen to Christmas music as we drove through the lights!

waving to the lights - I love how happy Dave is =)
we let her come sit up front with us,
I think she was more happy about that then the lights! LOL

Gobble Gobble

Haylee did two art projects today for Thanksgiving. It involved paint so of course she loved them! The first one I had to help her with so I couldn't get any pictures of making it but here are some before and after =)
