the army crawl

Sorry I haven't updated in well... forever! I've been so busy between the wedding and starting school. Taking 4 classes is time consuming! But so far it's not been too bad. Of course it's only been a week! The wedding is in only 3 weeks and I'm freaking out. SO much to do before then and it's stressful of course. We've had a fun couple of weeks with Kimberly's birthday weekend this past weekend.

Haylee learned how to crawl!! She did one movement of the normal crawl then decided it was best to just do the army crawl. So that's what she does, all the time. She'll still get up on her knees, sometimes more one or both but doesn't move (she won't move her hands). But I am still very proud of her and she's getting so big! Here's a short video of her crawling... oh and a retarded person recording =) Enjoy!

NINE months old!!

So it's true, Haylee is NINE months old =( boooooooo... only 3 months until she's ONE year old! This is her last single digit month. So sad. She had a great doctors appointment.

Her stats:

Weight - 18 lbs. 5 oz. - 50 percentile

Height - 28 inches - 75 percentile

Head - 44 cm. - 50 percentile

Amazingly her weight was only 4 oz. more than Kylie's at 9 months and 1/3 inch less than Kylie at 9 months! Who would of thought they'd be so close?? The doctor asked if she was crawling yet and she's not. She will just scoot backwards or in circles or still rolls where she needs to go. She does get on all fours though so it may be soon. And the doctor said that is fine. She said some kids never crawl. She seems to be content with getting around the way she does so I'm happy, I'm in no rush! Everyone kept commenting on how many teeth she has, 8! And she had her thumb in her mouth the whole time (biting on it) and the doctor was saying she may be teething some more but I can't imagine that! She got two shots, one in each leg =( Normally at 9 months kids don't get a shot but since she's on the alternative schedule she did. She was also supposed to get her Polio but we decided against it and she just got the Pc and HIB. She also got her hemoglobin tested. They pricked her big toe to get the blood, she didn't even flinch. That didn't bother her at all. Her iron was great. I asked about the dry spots on her back, arms and cheeks and the doctor said it's a little bit of eczema. She said to just put Carotid on it twice a day and that'll get rid of it. No biggie. Everything else looked great though! She's definitely slowed down on her weight, she still looks chubby but she's thinning out =) haha! Here are some pictures from the day before at lunch with my mom, sister Kimberly, Kylie and Haylee. She wasn't 9 months old yet but close enough!

Sunday's Softball Game

Dave will often participate in sports events to benefit different charities. Usually it's football in May but this time it was softball last Sunday... he should stick to football!! It was so funny, he's not the best in softball... okay, not good at all! He didn't even get onto base once, the one time he hit the ball he bunted it and got out anyways. It was all in good laughs though, we had a good time. Haylee and I went out there to support him. It was a VERY hot day though. We were sitting in the shade and still sweating. It was worth it in the end, the charity was for CHKD (Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters). All for a good cause. Here are some pictures and two videos from the day!

Haylee is feeling SO much better! It's such a relief to have our smiley and happy baby girl back. It was hard seeing her so sick. I will say it was nice being able to cuddle with her again though =) I loved her wanting to sit with me and just hang out when normally she wouldn't allow it for longer than say... 10 seconds! It reminded me of when we nursed and it made me miss it a little. It was only 3 months ago that we stopped nursing but yet it seems like years ago! Crazy how quickly you forget things and the beginning of your baby's life, when they're so small and so angelic. I miss those days but also look forward to the future days as she gets older. I did "create a monster" so to speak though. She got used to Mommy rocking her to sleep and singing to her and I found that she likes that now. So tonight was the first night to "re-train" her to go to sleep on her own. She got spoiled, and she deserved it, but now that she's better she's on her own again LOL. She didn't do too bad though, she fell asleep this evening after about 15 minutes of crying. Not too bad at all. It'll only get better of course, as it did in the beginning.

Here's some pictures from bath time tonight...

all ready for a bath!

crazy hair-do!
And here's a video I thought was cute, it's from a couple weeks ago (before she got sick) and she's just eating grapes but she is so cute =)

sick baby girl

Poor Haylee isn't feeling well. Monday morning she woke up just like normal, at her normal time. We made her breakfast & Dave fed it to her while I got dressed. We had to take Dave's car out to Chesapeake to get his sunroof fixed. We left home, he went to the sunroof place while me and Haylee stopped by Grandma's work to visit her. We left there shortly after to pick up Dave then went home. Kimberly was there waiting for us as we were all going out to visit Kelly, Kailyn and Lily out in Suffolk. She was pretty fussy the whole way out there but we just thought she was tired because she hadn't gotten a morning nap yet. She finally fell asleep when we were almost to Kelly's. Once we got there she was still fussy so I laid her down in Lily's bed and she went right to sleep. She slept the majority of the time we were there. When she woke up I tried to feed her lunch but she didn't want it. She was still fussy though so I tried a bottle, she still didn't want it. Then she would just lay with us so we then figured she was getting sick. She fell asleep on the way home then when she woke up she ate a little of a bottle. Once she was in my car (because we rode with Kimberly then had to pick Dave's car up) she had woken up and was just staring into space and not being her normal self. I called the doctor and they said to just watch her and make sure nothing changed drastically. So we brought her home and I was sitting with her. She then threw up all over me and the rug and everything around it. Lovely. She ended up throwing up 3 more times last night. She didn't have a fever though and didn't have diarrhea. She just didn't eat and couldn't keep anything that she did eat down. Poor thing. She also slept a lot.

Today she has been doing a little better. She didn't want to eat breakfast. She did drink some pedialyte this morning though. Around lunch time we gave her some applesauce (I read somewhere that it can help an upset stomach). Then a few hours later she had a bottle. She was getting fussy by that point and I think she was really hungry. So far she has been able to keep all that down. She did have a slight fever today. It started at 99.4 and got up to 99.7 but it's back down to 99.4. Her face is very red and blotchy though, not sure what that's from but I just figured it was from being hot and the fever. Not sure what happened with her but we're just happy she's getting better. She has played a little today but mostly just wanted to be held and sit with us. And she's sleep a lot today too. She just woke up and she's in her bed talking and kicking her aquarium in her bed, so that's good =) Gotta go get her!

weekend update

On Friday Dave was off because he had worked a conference on Monday which was supposed to be his day off. Since he was off I went and got a haircut around lunch time while Haylee was sleeping. After that I met Kimberly, Kylie, Emily & Rylee at Ocean Breeze to swim for a while. We went on the big slide and had a good time. Later that night Dave & me were thinking about going on a family "date" but Haylee was not too excited about that so we ended up just staying home for the night. After Haylee went to bed Dave and I watched The Incredible Hulk on HBO then went to bed.

On Saturday morning Haylee and I went to get my dress altered. We met up with my mom and sister there. It didn't go as well as I hoped. I got pretty depressed afterwards. The dress is not the color ivory I wanted, it's more white and so the shoes didn't match (they were too ivory). Then the bra I had gotten wasn't right, it went too high up in the back. Then there's a part on the dress that they couldn't fix and I didn't like the way it stuck out (a wire under the fabric). Then they couldn't do a bustle like I wanted. It's all minor things but since they were all happening at the same time I was getting stressed out and not happy. I just don't do good when things don't turn out the way I picture. Plus I thought I looked horrible in the dress. Ugh. So after that I went home and sulked haha. Saturday night my friend was having a dinner get together with friends to celebrate her 30th birthday at a restaurant down at the oceanfront. Dave was working so I couldn't go since I had Haylee (plus it was an expensive place) but I was going to meet up with them after they ate and hang out down at the beach and listen to music. So Haylee and I went to the mall to eat dinner and shop at Kohl's for a while until it was time to go to the beach. Well that didn't happen because they ended up taking longer than planned to eat and Haylee needed to go to bed. So we just went home and that was the end of the day.

Sunday afternoon around 12 my mom and I went to Lynnhaven mall to shop. She knew I was depressed from the day before and knows how to make me feel better! Haylee stayed home with her Daddy and we got to go without having to tend to her. It was a nice break. We went looking for new shoes and a new bra. Which we found both! She also was so kind to buy me two dresses and a shirt for the honeymoon cruise =) I'm so lucky to have her as my mommy! Later that evening we went to the Tide's game in Norfolk, which is a local minor league (I think haha) baseball team. The girls did pretty good. Haylee was a little fussy but for the most part it was fun. They did good considering it started at 6:15 and their bed time is around 7:30! Here are some pictures.

School update

I got into a Microbiology class!! This means that I will be able to apply to the program on September 1st. I was so relieved to have that happen. It is at the Norfolk campus though, which is not ideal since Kimberly is watching Haylee so it'll involve a lot of driving around. But it's good because of the times and days. It's only on Tuesday and Thursday from like 9:30 - 12:30 (lecture & lab). So I will be able to just stay for lab and not have to go back another day or time. Also, it'll be during Haylee's nap time so she'll sleep and then when she wakes up Kimberly can put the other girls down and then she'll feed Hay lunch and I'll be there soon after. So that's very good.

I met with a counselor at TCC and she went over a few things with me. I got a lot accomplished that day. I got my name changed, my "home campus" changed and my degree changed (which the 2nd two had to be done to get into the nursing program). She also told me that in order to raise my GPA faster I should repeat the classes I did bad in. I just planned on taking a lot of classes to try and raise it. So I'm going to take Micro, English 112, Child Psychology (repeat) and Intro to Psychology (repeat). The English & two Psych classes are online. And we figured if I get a B in everything I will have a high enough GPA. Woo hoo! I was worried I'd have to get an A, I am of course still going to try for an A but I won't be as stressed! So that is all good news on the school front.
